Brigadier Somerset records the history of the fighting at Cassel between 26th- 29th May 1940 in his accustomary deadpan way- I assume this diary was written post war, but is full of rich detail including the ever-changing orders he was receiving from BEF HQ as the military position deterioated. It also gives a good account of the breakout towards the Dunkirk beaches on 29th May.
